What they saw reminded them of their task masters. They got to Kadesh in less than two years after they left Egypt, so it was still fresh in their memory. God then changed His plan and decided to make them overcome their roots. It took God one day to take them out of Egypt but 40 years to take Egypt out of them, until it wasted the whole generation of the Egyptian slaves.
