What to do.....Im reading how dog chest infections are easy to treat, yet Barney is going to hell and back with this one. The frustration has him chewing on his legs, any exertion leaves him breathless and coughing, hes off his food, although he will let me hand feed him. If I am eating, he wants what I have, when I give it to him he tries a few mournfuls then walks away. His front left leg is lame, Ive noticed that it is colder than his right leg, possible that there is vascular damage from when the drip was in? When Ive been taking Ellie and Jeb on walks together he comes along but frequently stops to just sit or lie down. Ok you say, the answer is not take him. But, if he just lies around his breathing gets worse. Clearly he is better than weeks ago but this is one very sick dog. Hes gone from having an active lifestyle to invalid and I hate to see him like this. Because I am giving him painful injections he doesnt come close to me any more and he hardly responds when I fuss him. The cabin is kept warm hes got access to water, hes being medicated. Does anyone have any other suggestions? (other than giving up on him- that isnt going to happen)
