What to do with myself today... Oh yea... I still need to replace the rear main seal in my ole Chevy truck. In theory, all I need to do is find something on the truck that looks like the brown seal below, remove it and replace with new one below. And I caught a glimpse of the old seal, after dropping the oil pan the other day and removing the oil pump (thinking I had the two piece seal which I dont....). So now I get to disconnect the drive shaft, unbolt transmission and slide back, remove clutch housing, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel..... and then we might be able to remove and replace the rear seal.... The only thing I hate more than mechanic work, (especially under the vehicle) is paying someone $100 or more per hour, to do (and in some cases not even a good job of) MECHANIC WORK. (Probably should buy a new truck, since mines a 78... but Im not fond of that either and only need a truck 3 or 4 times per year). What kind of work do YOU hate to do?
