What would be the consensus of this working? Im thinking of keeping the rear cassette stock (no megarange) and just adding a 24t front chain ring up front like some other have used but with just a simple drill out and bolt up scenario on the stock crank/bb/bashguard. The idea would be to: First I just drill out the stock bash guard screws(5 of them), right through the center stock chain-ring and and straight out the other side. Circled in red in the pics. Use some 1/2 long or so bolts and reattach the bash guard with the 5 nuts. Then the nuts will give me enough space for the smaller cog to not make the chain rub on or interfere with the bashguard. Then I mount the 24t cog on the inside of the stock chain ring closer to the BB spaced about 2-3 mm from the inside lip of the bashguard, because of the 5 nuts I used to lock in the bolts. Add 5 more nuts and some lock-tite and then that cog wont be moving at all. This way you can manually switch between flat cruise stock gears and the 24t when you hit trail. On my 25 I only use the small cog up front for trails so I would think this would be the same. Pics of part and a bad MS paint to get an idea.
