What would you replace the BBC with after independence? I was thinking of using the licence fee money to create a Scottish equivalent of the US c-span.org called Democracy Scotland, which shows political speeches and parliamentary debates start to finish with no editing or commentary. Also a news channel modelled on The Real News with no ads or corporate funding that can go anywhere, and the rest for grants to home grown talent to make original Scottish programming. They can be web based at first, then replace BBC1 and BBC2 or terrestrial TV on independence day. The BBC can attempt to sell its programs on satellite packages, but otherwise become defunct in Scotland. All ideas welcome. Im developing a proposal that could have some influence over this.
