Whats on my mind? Eh, Ill talk to myself. Literature: In 1991, a survey conducted for the Library of Congress and the Book-of-the-Month Club asked club members what the most influential book in the respondents life was. Rands Atlas Shrugged was the second most popular choice, after the Bible. I have not read Ayn Rands Atlas Shrugged yet, nor have I read the Bible, as of yet. But it is on to to read list, along with a plethora of other books. So youre the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war (Civil War). - Abraham Lincoln to Harriet Stowe; author of Uncle Toms Cabin. I do not believe the Civil war was initiated due to slavery, since tariffs in the 1830s on the predominantly agricultural south funded approximately 70% of the federal government. My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. - Abraham Lincoln. And I want to thoroughly examine Adolf Hitlers Mein Kampf, or, My Struggle, later. Also, the influence that the media posses: When I was younger I hated being a redhead because the only beautiful women I saw had long, straight, brown hair and dark or tan skin (I have very curly hair). When I was a girl there never were any beautiful redheads represented in the media and movies and so I thought red hair wasnt beautiful. If there was a redhead represented, he/she was ugly and teased because of their hair color. I am in my 30s now and I absolutely love my curly, red hair. There are more beautiful redheads being represented in the media and I always get excited when I see one featured on a tv show or movie. - Megan Truly fascinating. Entertainment, the media, is like a cardiac monitor for the current state of society. Keep in mind, a sociopathic society was a prerequisite for Nazi Germany. If Joseph Goebbels was still alive, I wonder what his opinion would be on the current status of modern entertainment. Eh, thats it, I suppose. My first post, directed at myself. Outsiders probably think Im psychologically unstable. I would concur, to a certain extent. But whatever... time to read the Wikipedia article on the Agricultural Revolution.
