From the Morristown (TN) Gazette July 20, 1877 Hancock County TN Dateline Eli Mullens, who has been in the moonshine whiskey business in Hancock County, and who last January received a year sentence to the Albany penetentiary, has just been pardoned by Pres. Cleveland on the grounds that he has ten children, and that his wife had sold the pint of brandy. :) Eli Mullins was my 1st cousin, 4 times removed. His mother, Mahala Collins Mullins was a sister to Silas Collins who was my 3great grandpa.
