Whats on my mind?! Things I learned from my 99 year old Memere, who passed peacefully on Saturday morning. From her, I learned that even older pups can learn new tricks... and be sharp as a tack... That faith will pull you through stuff others dont think you can do... That I can care for a life even when death is imminent(sp)... That a good story can keep you warm at a bedside even when times dont have a lot of words... That she could hear me when it didnt look like she could... That little french women are strong- and you REALLY see it when its like tea time and the hot water arrives... That holding a hand will always, ALWAYS warm a heart... That even a former nun will pardon and forgive sins when they are not ill-intentioned and when they are life... That Gods Grace brought me a child and a baby my Memere got to hold and feed her herself... That Memere and I were the best penpals eVVerRRR when she lived in Nebraska and those letters carried a very special relationship FOREVER... Pen and ink and paper is a lost art that should come back... That peace may sometimes found at the last hour... That we should live often like you have found peace and it may come when you least expect. Do unto others as you would have done onto you... Karma might just be boomerang-ish- faith is secure/security, too... Memeres un-cashed birthday checks are sweetly stored in my nightstand since about 1990... and she only scorned twice that her checking account was off because of my non-check-cashing... That rest comes at the last hour sometimes... That you want to live with no regrets. That my family is FULL of SO MANY amazing, GOOD TO THE CORE people... That big families come together so wholly in a time of faith and need... Theres more, too, but its trapped in my overtired mental bank at this time. Blessings and peace, Always, Emily Pouliot PS- Im TRYING like a fool to try to learn to embrace change... my stubborn nature has delivered me a life I couldnt have designed... my faith should not be shaken, and Memere should be always with me for times of change or ill-faith... Bless you, Memere. I KNOW you Rest in Peace, as you once wrote about your father- to Rest in Peace can be good advice. Bless our family. Bless my Daddy and his sister and Memeres Godson Steve and the crew that got us through these times, family and at Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation, where I slept a lot (or not so much) lately...
