What’s That Smell? But thanks be to God, who always leads - TopicsExpress

What’s That Smell? But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s victory parade. God uses us to spread his knowledge everywhere like a sweet-smelling perfume. Our offering to God is this: We are the sweet smell of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are being lost. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 Have you ever caught the aroma of someone wearing a beautiful perfume or cologne? I always want to ask, “What is that scent?” I want to know what it is and where to get it. Have you ever walked down St. George Street in St. Augustine, Florida? There is an ice cream shop that serves waffle cones, and they make the cones right there. You can smell them way down the road. Like a Bugs Bunny cartoon, the scent hits you, and carries you right to the cone. Paul says we are the sweet smell of Christ. When we are sharing our love and faith with others, can they smell it? Are we like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that someone says, “I want some of them. Where do I get some?” Does our faith show that to others? Can they smell the aroma of Christ on us and in us? Do our words and actions draw people to want what we have? Does what we have give off an aroma that makes people ask, “How do I get that, and where do I get some?” Sharing the good news should have an even better aroma than those waffle cones on St. George Street, just calling to passersby, whispering, “Come to me. I am not far. We are the aroma of Christ for those seeking, struggling, and lost. Do our actions and words bring the scent of Christ? Is the aroma pleasing and calling? Are we kind and gentle in our approach as Jesus was? Does it look and smell like Jesus? Today, I want the scent of Jesus to permeate my every action and word. I want someone to say, “What is that aroma? What is that, and how do I get some?”
