When AB Super kings and Dev Dabangs squared off against each other - TopicsExpress

When AB Super kings and Dev Dabangs squared off against each other on Sunday, a lot was at stake. A victory for DD would have given them their first points of the 2nd SHSM cup for U 13 boys while the same result would have taken ASK into the finals. DD won the toss and elected to bat on what was looking like a placid wicket. Yes it was placid but there was too much skill in the bowling repertoire that ASK possessed. Led by their skipper AB, super kings bowlers displayed a masterclass on a bright sunday morning. While Yuvraj Khanna was undone by some late swing by his name sake Yuvraj Yadav, the yorker which came through the hands of AB was too much to handle for last match hero Aryan Nayar. Bakshi seemed to have learnt his lessons well as he dislodged the wickets of Vinayak too, before getting into his trademark jig. Skipper Dev Chhabra did what seemed wise in the circumstances and decided to bide his time. However his vigil was broken by a peach of of a delivery from left armer Jassi. DEVS 20 came off 40 deliveries and his downfall led to a flurry of wickets. Experienced jassi combined with VDCCE latest find , Harsimar to suck life from DDs batting effort. The two turbunators claimed 8 wickets between them, Simar picking up his maiden 5 wicket haul with some wonderfully flighted leg spinners and googlies. Just when one thought that the Dabangs would fold up for less than 100, there was a late assault by Vatsal Jain. The southpaw whos known more for his ball swing, swung his bat for an entertaining 35 with 6 hard hitting boundaries. He carted almost everyone before AB cane back to end his cameo. Dikshant Dhoke judging one beautifully at long off boundary to bring relief to his team mates. With the kind of batting ASK has, chasing 127 was never going to be difficult. Govind made useful 24 at the top and batting powerhouse Vyome Sharma who is in the form of his life completed his first half century to guide their team into the finals, becoming the leading run getter of the tourney in the process. Dev used as many as 8 bowlers including himself to make a match of it but all his efforts were rendered futile by some clean and calculated hitting from Vyome Sharma. Off spinner Agam Bhatia was the pick of the bowlers with his impeccable line and length. Others like Manan, Vatsal and Vasav tried their best but it was their batters who had already fluffed up their lines in the first half. From then on it was always going to be catch up for Dev and his men. Chhabra threw everything , even picking a wicket in the process but he and his team would have been better served had he scored some more runs in the morning. Harsimar won the man of the match while Anabhayin was the best bowler. Vyome Sharma won his 4th consecutive award as he picked up best batsman in this match. Dikshant Dhoke for picking up that stupendous catch and Aryan Nayar for being brilliant behind the stumps won best fielder awards. A special award was given Apoorva Khanna. This 10 year old brings so much energy to the ground that its infectious. We are blessed to have such kids. :)
