When Apples CEO Tim Cook left his position at the #1 computer - TopicsExpress

When Apples CEO Tim Cook left his position at the #1 computer company (Compaq) in the world to move to Apple Computer in 1998, his new company was on the brink of bankruptcy! That year, Michael Dell was asked in a TV interview what he would do to fix Apple. Id shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders, he replied. Tim Cook was on board with Apple five minutes into his initial interview with Steve Jobs, though. He caught Jobs huge vision and passion. While all the people in Tims life told him to run from Apple and that he was crazy to even consider a move, his inner voice shouted, Go west, young man. Go west. Obviously, he listened to his intuition ... In public statements, he stresses the importance of hard work, preparation and focus, saying, You can only do so many things great, and you should cast aside everything else. He also believes in doing whats right instead of just whats profitable. Even though Im an engineer by education and an analytical person at heart, the most important decisions I made had nothing to do with that, he told students at Dukes Business School in 2013. They were always based on intuition. I always listened to my intuition, not the left brain, or for that matter, even the people who knew me best.
