When Brady was first diagnosis with T1D, it was routine to check - TopicsExpress

When Brady was first diagnosis with T1D, it was routine to check his blood at midnight and around 3-4am often. It is easy for T1Ds blood glucose to drop during the night and the ideal range is to be between 130-150 to prevent a severe drop by morning. I pray every night and ask God to protect all my children and to help me in Bradys diabetic care. I also promised God that if I ever woke up from a dead sleep for whatever reason, I would ALWAYS check Bradys blood. This morning, around 4:30, my pillow slapped me in the face. I have no idea how it happened but I was wide awake so I went and checked Bradys blood. Bradys BG was 55. I was able to wake him up and give him juice to bring his number higher, but had I not checked him, it could have been a bad outcome. I have to keep reminding myself that diabetes doesnt play fair and it can turn serious without warning. Very thankful for the Lord answering my prayers and waking me up!
