When Candlelight Records signed Averse Sefira to their label in 1996, they were only marginally aware of the astounding atmospherically animalistic act that they had just given rise to. Averse Sefira, comprised of Wrath Sathariel Diabolus operating the bellowing belligerent bass, Sanguine Mapsama controlling, like a warlock, the wicked and weaponized lead guitar and The Carcass cracking stick after stick on his skins, are a trio of immense underground notoriety. Out of Austin Texas, they encapsulate the ghoulish black metal rendered vocals on top of heavily overdriven droning guitar makes for an archaic sound that completely ensnares what little light is left for the listener and quenches the thirst of the surrounding darkness. So distorted yet smooth sounding. The musical equivalent of a fine dark ale. Averse Sefira create a living, breathing beast of monolithic proportion. If you love heavy tones, fast drums and hollow, ghoulish black metal vocals, then allow Averse Sefira to engulf you in their hessian harmony. -V
