When Dan asked me to write him a reference letter I was a little - TopicsExpress

When Dan asked me to write him a reference letter I was a little put back. I wondered how seriously anyone would consider a reference letter from someone such as myself; someone who thinks of Daniel as his right hand and best, good friend. I decided I would write that letter, not as a reference for you but as a reminder for me and a compass for him to help guide him when the way is uncertain. The person before you is of the highest character, it is essential that you give him a place to shine. When I first met Daniel Fortunato he was working the counter at a coffeshop. He immediately struck me as a polite and astute young man, he seemed to have a quality I had found lacking in his peers. I knew at once that I wanted to get to know him. Later, when he needed work, I jumped at the opportunity to hire him. His intelligence and patience made him an ideal trainee and he quickly picked up the pace and detail that we required of him. He was an exemplary worker. He arrived on time and in good condition ready for work, tardiness was never unexcused and he always gave ample notice of any changes in his schedule. As Daniel progressed with my company he was given more duties and responsibilities. Finally we allowed him to ‘finish’ the work. Enabling Dan to put his own hand to the work gave him a sense of pride that could be seen immediately. He started to pay more attention to quality control and really took the time to make it as excellent a job as he possibly could. He has shown the potential and ability for growth on several levels and takes his work very seriously. Dan has also proven useful in the field of customer relations. Whenever a customer had questions they seemed to gravitate toward Daniel. His answers are always forthright and delivered with tact. I have seen him ‘work’ on the phone also and his charm, wit and grace under fire are not to be underestimated. Daniel kept his hours religiously. He was always eager for more work but never willing to bill us for time he felt he didn’t deserve. His integrity on this point never wavered. In closing. He is as forthright as he is charming. He is intelligent, eager to work, quick to learn and a gentleman. You will find few left in his generation who could say the same. You would be fortunate to hire Daniel Fortunato, he will not disappoint.
