When Ford revived the Mustang GT/CS “California Special” in 2007, it wasnt thought that we would still see this option package available some seven years later. For 2014, Ford once again offers Mustang buyers the GT/CS which includes a laundry list of visual and interior goodies. 2014 Mustang GT/CS captures retro style in modern form Ford Motor Co While the original GT/CS that started it all back in 1968 was a regional special edition for California only, this GT/CS is available everywhere the current Mustang is sold. The GT/CS has been very popular with Mustang enthusiasts, commanding a special certificate of authenticity from Ford as well as an enthusiast operated GT/CS Registry. For 2014 the GT/CS package costs $1995 and can only be ordered on the Mustang GT Premium Coupe or Convertible. This means that if you order without any additional options or packages, the least expensive price of entry is $37,540. The GT/CS package adds a unique billet grille with a Mustang pony tri-bar logo. A unique lower fascia lip gives a slightly more aggressive appearance as well. The package also includes side scoops, a pedestal rear deck spoiler and the same lower rear fascia found on the GT-500. You get unique 19” painted wheels and GT/CS graphics in either black or silver depending on the color you choose. You can also opt for stripe delete. And when it comes to color, choices are limited to only Race Red, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Black and Sterling Gray. You cannot get the GT/CS in Gotta Have It Green, Grabber Blue or Ruby Red. The interior gets dressed up with a few niceties including contrast stitching in the leather trimmed seats. Special carbon-fiber look patter inserts are found in the seats and door panels, and the aluminum trim on the dash has a carbon-fiber pattern as well. GT/CS logos are embroidered into the floor mats and seats too. Whether the GT/CS package will continue into the next generation Mustang is not yet known, so if you want one get it while the getting is good. The next generation Mustang due in the spring of 2014 as a 2015 model will be completely redesigned from the ground up and will be shedding the vestiges of its retro past.
