When God created man, He created Him for the express purpose of fellowship with Himself, but He didnt want fellowship with robots. God wanted a people who love Him; because they wanted to love Him, who would serve Him because they wanted to serve Him, who would obey Him because they wanted to obey Him. Therefore, He gave man a free moral will. It was up to man to decide if he would choose to love God. Unfortunately, Adam took his free moral will and used it against God, thus severing the relationship between God and man. It was never in Gods will for man to know sickness, sin and death; but, when Adam rebelled in the garden of Eden, Satan gained dominion over man. From then on, the door was open for the enemy to steal everything that God has intended for us to have, including our relationship with HIM. When our communion with God was severed, we lost not only our pure, sincere mind toward God, but the knowledge of how to handle a relationship with Him! Fear, doubt, unbelief and mistrust of God rushed in to fill the place where revelation, wisdom and knowledge of HiM was intended to be. darkness, came to eat away at the very core of our beins. Envy, pride, jealousy, and hatred not only destroyed us but blinded us to the knowledge of HIs Will. Our Father, Hes the God of purpose, plan, design and objectivity. After mans fall from communion with Him, God has had one major objective: to reconcile man back to Himself in a powerful love relationship that is unequal in the universe! How passionately we can hear Him call out to us in His Word: I dont want your (sacrifice) I want your love; I dont want your offerings- I want you to know me. ( Hosea 6:6, TLB). Through the death and ressurection of His Son, God once more opened the way for us to have this kind of loving fellowship with Him. And for a brief time, the saints of the early church did not know Him in this way, as we have noted, they did not struggle with the question of knowing Gods will......they just did it.
