When I am out collecting signatures to make the ballot, or on any - TopicsExpress

When I am out collecting signatures to make the ballot, or on any signature drive for another candidate or issue, I never ask the following people: - People with little kids because they need to look after their children in busy parking lots. - Any elderly person who looks fatigued or in pain. - Any young person walking arm in arm with an elderly person. - People who look to young to be registered voters. - People with bags in both hands. - People walking fast with a determined look on their face. - Anyone who looks upset. - Anyone talking on their phone. I always say Sir or Miss. I always say please, and thank you. I always try to be lighthearted, open, honest, and funny. I am cordial, succinct, direct, but never forward or aggressive. Last week I went to my favorite spot to collect signatures, Super Stop&Shop in Wellington Circle Plaza of Medford. Standing there was this big brute of a bearish man yelling at the top of his lungs, DO YOU WANT TO SIGN NOMINATION PAPERS FOR ED MARKEY? at every single living thing that walked, crawled or flew by. For 90 seconds I stood next to him collecting signatures for my race but then he came up to me and screamed, YOU NEED TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE. I kindly told him, no....no I dont. Have a good day. Then I went to the other Super Stop&Shop and finished my day. Two days later I went back to the first Stop&Shop and there was Brutus Beefcake again, YELLING for signatures for the Ice Cream Man, Ed Markey. I winced and went to my other spot. So, today, I went there after going to Church and thankfully Brutus Beefcake wasnt there. However, the General Manager came out and walked up to me and said, We got two calls to the main office about being too aggressive when asking for signatures. I told him who it was but he said he didnt care who it was and to just be nice when asking. I dont blame the Manager at all. Hes running a business. He was polite and didnt say I had to leave but to just be nice. Having that said, the Manager should care who is being a Brutus Beefcake and who is being respectful. With all due respect, EVERYONE should care about what kind of person is running for office, or helping someone to run for office. Tolerating or working for the intolerable is why we have folks like the Democrat I am challenging for State Senate who votes to raise your taxes every day of the week and twice on Sunday and then votes no for making just two mere days of the year a sales tax holiday. This is a Democrat who also voted no to a law that would require habitual violent offenders to serve their full sentence when convicted of yet another violent crime. Managers, campaign workers, volunteers, and those who make donations who tolerate the intolerable are why we have Departments like that of the Department of Children and Families not being held accountable to their fatal negligence. Folks who aggressively tolerate the intolerable are why this nation needs to elect those who will fight to lessen government controls over WE, THE PEOPLE and for life, the Constitution, limited taxation and regulation, and for personal responsibility. I mean no disrespect to any one. Just offering my humble opinion. I sincerely and thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who has signed my nomination papers. Ive collected nearly 750 signatures. I already turned in my signatures for the towns of Winchester and Somerville and will be turning in those collected in Medford and Cambridge tomorrow. Ive met some amazing folks. Republicans, Democrats and the un-enrolled Independents who are engaged, inquisitive, kind, decent, and productive individuals, and families, and workers, and businesses owners, and home makers, and the retired. Very, very, very few have suggested we need to raise taxes or grow the size, scope and power of government. They all want reform. They all want transparency and accountability. They all want freedom. I want to be their voice on Beacon Hill. WHEN I am elected, not one second of one minute of one hour of one day of one week of one month of one year in the two years I serve will be spent in any other way but by being the voice of every single constituent in my district and the state at large. I will be a true public servant. Disciplined by lifes experience, the military, and common sense. Guided and inspired by family, friends, certain political idols, and God above. I will listen. I will think. I WILL DELIVER. God bless you all. God bless America!!!
