When I complain about water shortages, in my village, they laugh - TopicsExpress

When I complain about water shortages, in my village, they laugh at me, because I sound stupid, silly and spoiled. Half the luxuries we were introduced to, in the name of development, we dont need. The other half, we can supply by the work of our own hands. Alms and donations subjugate us, and so we shouldnt turn our noses up when they become condenscending. We were born into the donor-dependence syndrome but now we are open to a myriad of options to shed ourselves off this debilitating tendency. Education has given us the brain power to exercise our intellectual capacities to limitless possibilities. Truly, we are rich. Maybe not as rich as them. Or rich like them. But rich nonetheless. Lets protect our riches, intellectual, material and otherwise. Otherwise we will forever be indebted to them, we will beg from and bend over backwards to them, and thats exactly where theyd have us be. My perfect scenario would be if donors aid, infinitely, of their own volition, not as some form of boycott or embargo or protest. When you are certain you can beg for a warm, home cooked meal, you can afford to be lazy. Why work when someone else can? We have become lazy, here and here (Im pointing at my hands and head, but you can include the heart too).
