When I first came out as a skeptic was to my pastor at St. Johns - TopicsExpress

When I first came out as a skeptic was to my pastor at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church: (name withheld for respect) I was a member of the church and choir, because it was something my dad (parents) thought was right for me, even though I had been told by my dad that I didnt deserve to be baptized (due to being a piece of shit). I tried. I felt good being part of something, I guess. She was way more supportive of my skepticism than I thought she would be. I respected her so much for what she did. Being a divorcée and still doing what she felt was right, even though the bible shuns divorce...and limits the rights of women, for that matter. She never judged me for my thoughts, but opted to listen to them. There were a lot of things. Things I always felt were contradictory with what we were taught. Things I felt were inconsistent. She listened, took it all on, and supported my skepticism. At the time, no one else offered me that support. Of all people. Thank you.
