When I got up this morning I knew it was going to be a different day. I didnt wear a hat or a beanie, shocking I know, but it was more than that. While going through my normal morning routine this morning, I decided to take some extra time and stood in front of the mirror and looked long and hard. Today was different, like I got older, but I decided to welcome the wrinkles around my eyes instead and smiled at every single person I saw today. Big cheesy smiles, let me know if you noticed, because I know something you didnt know. ;P I discovered something important and it gave me time to make a moment to reflect on the last several years. It has been a pretty crazy ride which included but wasnt limited to meeting a very important girl, helping my family, getting the car of my dreams, finding a new demanding job, lots and lots of growth, dedicated 120 hour work weeks (lots of them), getting rid of some debt, paying off my car, meeting some really awesome friends, crossing off many bucket list experiences, losing my mom suddenly, lots of support and hard work, getting in the news, taking pictures with the bosss boss, living in cool places near the city, experiencing an IPO, experiencing a stock crash and surviving layoffs, getting A LOT of funding to build some R&D projects and new IPs (some still to come :) ), some of which launched, some that crashed and burned. I cant describe how awesome it felt the first time our team achieved 2nd highest DAU, knowing we touched millions of players, or even meeting with the players and taking community calls to ensure they were happy. I really enjoyed creating playgrounds with my piers for young children and giving back to the local community. Can you believe 7 promotions, the transition to mobile, 9 Hack-a-thon wins, 6 MVP awards, 1 REALLY bad boss, and way more high fives than I can count? (im still getting them, two on the train home from complete strangers) Also, almost every single day of it with my puppy by my side. (24/7 if I wasnt traveling out of state) It couldnt have happened without one key thing, though. Some stories have a happy ending but who wants to wait that long to find out how it ends? I say we get started now defining the possibilities because that is what excites me. For now, lets preemptively call this a new chapter. I believe we can move mountains and invite everyone reading this to reach into yourself to do the same. I cant wait to discover what I will say about my next chapter. It all started with, starting over. SURPRIZE! Today was my last day at Zynga... say what? I said, today was Kahunas last day at #Zynga. Let it sink in...
