When I look at the mess of the Middle East , I see primitive religious tribalism as the chief cause of the problem. And then I really worry. Cause it seems like our Countrys current divisions are also becoming tribal religious quarrels. I long for a society committed to Jeffersons separation of Church and State. A separation that allowed Christianity to flourish and evolve without the pollution of political charlatans. A Separation that protected us from ever becoming like the Middle East. A Separation that in my view has disappeared. We probably do have a lot to fear. But mostly from ourselves.
