When I read about ministers and churches that control the members I think about John 15:1-7. Jesus said in verse 5 I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit, for without Me ye can do nothing. Stop and think about that statement by Jesus. I just visited a few vineyards in wine country in northern California. I took a short walk through a vineyard. It is clear that a branch must connect directly to the vine (trunk stock) to live. Show me exactly where a minister, rabbi, priest, pope, bishop, elder, deacon, apostle or any other teacher fits in these verses. If they get between the Vine and the branches the connection is broken. When you take a look at the churches of today you will see a controlling leadership. You must not think outside the doctrines that are taught or you will be removed and asked to leave (John 12:42). In my opinion, the first thing a member of the body of Christ should do is STOP ATTENDING CHURCH, and START READING YOUR BIBLE!!! You will be amazed at what the Comforter, the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) will teach you...
