When I retired at age 54 for very personal reasons, I was so - TopicsExpress

When I retired at age 54 for very personal reasons, I was so unsure as to how I would make it, what I would do, what my life would be like. I tried very hard to find meaningful work that would challenge me, use my skills, and make a difference in the lives of people. I did not find such work. So I downsized and learned how to make do with less. But then my uncle passed away and I had to administer his estate....hours upon hours, trip upon trip up north to make sense out of the mess of his life. It took me well over a year and I am still dealing with the loose ends of his life. All of this alone. Now I am confronted with helping my aging parents through a very rough time in their lives as i am the administrator of their trust and will as well. I do whatever I can to help them navigate the ins and outs, red tape and challenging tasks of getting them the help they need so they can be safe, secure, healthy and happy in their own home...all of this alone. So, had I still been working I would not have been able to handle my uncles estate nor would I be able to devote the time necessary to assist my wonderful parents in their life challenges. I truly believe that things happen for a reason, that what is meant to happen will happen and no matter how we view it at the time, no matter how stressed out and hopeless it may seem to us, there is a plan and in my case, it was to help the people I love through their greatest life challenges. I am doing what I was meant to do.
