When I saw this, the 1st thing that came to mind, was how scary this was. This brave mom feared for her children, and did what she did to become the only physical victim of this attack/robbery. Thank God! This entire family is going to need a lot of help to somehow put this behind them. Whenever I’ve mentioned this event yesterday, the common comments were: “This wouldn’t happen here” or “It’s not going to happen to me”, to which I said, “Why?” and I get, “Things like that don’t happen out here” This isn’t the 50’s, 60’s and maybe even the 70’s – Times have changed and crime is not only in the big cities, it’s also out here. Now Could this have been prevented? No, there are no guarantees in life, but steps could have been taken to possibly make this scumbag think twice. Here are some Steps that can be taken: Protect your homes with an activated alarm, a dog. Have a weapon only seconds away, safely available and get proper training for the weapon. Don’t want a weapon in your home, that’s OK, then learn Self Defense that includes some physical contact and how to deal with, Your Fears, The Adrenalin and the Stress (FAST) that happens when you’re attacked.
