When I say that our opponents are not readers, I am not being elitist. No reader will ever condone the symbolic violence, the pulping, that will be done to the banned books. No reader will see a book and immediately assume dangerous ideologies without even reading the book in the first place. No reader will prevent access of books to other people just because they disagree with the books content. Looking historically, the current intellectual freedom that we have achieved is largely due to the introduction of the gutenburg press, which allowed for books to be printed quickly and cheaply, and not to be held just by the wealthy and the clergy. So please dont try and shut me up under the pretence of asking me to check my privilege.
