When I showed my film Lakshmi and Me at Sahayadri School in 2008 - TopicsExpress

When I showed my film Lakshmi and Me at Sahayadri School in 2008 over 200 students from 4th to 10th grade attended the screening. Not a single person walked out. The students shared stories about their akkas till breakfast next morning. Everyone had a akka. This is the most universal story in India. Why? Does it have to be this way or can it change? Will we the middle class ever live and work in someones house for say Rs 15,000 per month? Thats as high as it gets. Will we leave our families and young children behind and be on beck and call for our employer 18 hours a day? Why not? Why is domestic work not a job option for the Indian middle class?
