When I started at the University of South Alabama, I was diagnosed - TopicsExpress

When I started at the University of South Alabama, I was diagnosed with severe depression & anxiety. I was failing my classes. Seeing a therapist that looked like Mr. Rogers. And weighed 80 pounds with no energy for life. By the end of that first semester, I had pulled those Fs up to mostly Cs, but also a couple Bs and As. 2 years later I am graduating with my BS degree AND Magna Cum Laude academic honors from the University of South Alabama. I am engaged to be married to the best friend that God could have ever given me who helped lift me up to my best self. And I now weigh 103 pounds and hopefully counting with such a love and appreciation for life and the beauty that always surrounds us even when we neglect to see it. I have never openly spoken about my depression and anxiety before because that was a time of embarrassment and brokenness, but to look at myself now compared to where I was.. I would be lying if I said it didnt bring tears to my eyes.. I can be proud of myself. If you are living with depression and/or anxiety, please know that it CAN be defeated! You CAN overcome! And that YOU ARE strong enough to pull yourself up off of the floor and reach greatness despise any mental illness! Strength. You have it. Let it shine.
