When I think about this holiday i dont think have fun or happy is a really appropriate greeting. In fact, it makes me sad. War is horrifying. Those who do not make it home to their families create a create loss in the hearts of those who love them. . . Sometimes for a good cause. . .and other times they are manipulated by not so noble causes. . . Regardless there is a huge loss. Then there are those who come home. . . Some manage to create lives of dignity and move through the traumas associated with war and others end up in hospitals, on the streets, addicts and suicidal. I pray for compassion today for all families, deceased, veterans and beloveds who are all victims of war and heroes not just because they fight with courage, but because many have the courage to live and love even the wounds in themselves and others.
