When I think back about these ancient cities, I imagine they faced pretty much the same social problems then, that we face now (poverty and wealth disparity, pollution, significant environmental impacts, a lack of justice, might makes right thinking, patriarchy, etc.) Thats because the problem is civilization; A social system that appears to be evolutionary unstable (every one eventually collapses even though we havent - yet). And we are stuck inside this system for a couple reasons: 1. We dont realize we are in a cultural prison 2. We dont know where to find the exit doors to this prison 3. Very few people even think about where the exit doors might be 4.
