When I ventured out to work today it was -23, the wind chill was -48............childs play. As I started to quicken my pace to an easy trot, my mind was filled with a scene from 23 years earlier. DVR and the disability board wanted me to get a drivers license, I told them no. There are times at certain climatic conditions when I get minor blackouts, I told them I would not put lives at risk. I told them I could go on foot. You say that when the weather is nice, but it gets cold in the winter. They put me down as unemployable. A smile comes over my face each time I think of this unemployables perfect attendance record, when many co-workers call in because their cars will not work in the cold. I am sorry if that sounds bad, but I am proud of my accomplishments, and every day when I get to work I am starting out the day with a personal victory.
