When I was 10 years old, I watched the movie Patch Adams for the first time. It was at that young age that I decided that when I grew up, I wanted to impact the lives of Children. I gave up my dream of becoming an actress and at 10 years old, decided I wanted to be Patch Adams and work with children with cancer. I wanted to make them smile and through play, show them hope and magic. This dream that began at 10 years old stayed with me when I went to college where I decided to make my Patch Adams dream come true. When I applied to graduate school, this was still my dream and somewhere along those two and half years of graduate school, I decided to switch my dream from cancer to autism and be my own version of Patch Adams through the world of Floortime and play therapy. At 10 years old, a role that Robin Williams played changed my life forever and helped shape me into the person I am today. I can proudly say that my Patch Adams dream came true; today I make a living by playing, laughing, and believing in magic with children. I have never been emotionally affected by the death of a celebrity, but I found myself in tears this morning. Robin Williams changed my life. RIP...your art, humor, and legacy will live forever .
