When I was 11-years-old, my family decided to float the Illinois. - TopicsExpress

When I was 11-years-old, my family decided to float the Illinois. It had been raining for days and the river was a little higher than normal and was moving pretty fast. At one point, we flipped the canoe. I was flailing in the water knowing I was going to drown because the water had been so high and fast. My parents were more pre-occupied with getting the canoe flipped back over and all of the water out of it. They didnt seem to be very interested in my drowning. In her frustration with her dorky drowning son, my mother finally said, Dammit, Rick. Stand up! Apparently, we were only in about 2 feet of water that for the most part wasnt even moving......and I was apparently a complete moron. Many times when we fall down in our lives, we react to the disaster we THINK will result. My experience in high fast moving water told me I was going to float away from my parents. The reality is all I had to do was stand up. Maybe its time for you to stand up, again. Falling isnt ever the problem. Staying down is what will destroy you. Live Better. Dont believe your past experiences define where you are right now. Get back up on your feet where you belong.
