When I was 12 years old, my grandfather died and inherited me many books of his huge library. One of them was the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. He was a very educated man, a rebel, who wanted always to understand the mechanics of source, the how, the why, the when and besides that see the proof of it all. :). Today a friend sent me one of Swami Vivekananda quotes, which may stir up different reactions or opinions from many. I believe that those who understand the importance of owning the whole of who you are, the shadow, the emotional polarities will see beyond the written word, will feel the essence of what Swamiji was trying to convey, and the importance of truly use our words, actions, thoughts aimed towards integrity, congruency, and non violence. And also may see/feel how choosing non violence is actually an act of power and courage rather than weakness. Here is the quote: Non-Violence means having the ability (and strength) to strike (hurt) someone and yet restraining oneself from doing so. Therefore, non-violence can only be practiced by the strong and powerful ones. The weak only but make a show of non-violence for they never had the strength to inflict any harm on anybody. Then with true courage of choice, you thus can Turn thy gaze inward, wherein resides the Supreme Self ~ Swami Vivekananda What do thou think? :) Much love, and respect, Ivonne,
