When I was a kid in daBronx, my grandparents often took my sister and me to the Chinese Casino on 188th, just west of The Concourse, near Krums. My sister and I got to assemble wontons -- a big thrill and maybe a health code violation. My grandfather did not like Chinese food, so a cook would go out to a nearby butcher and get a steak to cook for him. Grampy Jay loved the great service there. He said that a good waiter fills your water glass as soon as you ask for more water but a great waiter fills it before you ask.
