When I was a little kid attending all girls school, New Indian - TopicsExpress

When I was a little kid attending all girls school, New Indian Model School (NIMS) in Dubai, wearing an ugly brown uniform, with my huge backup, carrying many books, doing homework for hours with no time to play, waking up at 4 am on exam weeks 3 times a year to re-revise the content I studied until 12 last night and begging Allah to pass me on result days (now you know why I will never do Masters), there was one thing worth going to school for. Today, September 5th is Teachers Day in India. On this day, teachers will party the whole day, and classes will be run by students in 11th and 12th grades (lessons involve playing bingos, Antakshri and talks among friends on who is best dressed). Those Junior and Senior girls will come to school fully decked up, wearing saris. And my dream was to be one of those girls, wearing a sari, writing with a chalk on the blackboard. Then, I moved to the US, and the dream remained a dream. But I do have a sari. Today, theres are girls at NIMS dressed in saris, teaching little girls in brown frock uniforms. I just wanted to say this because we tend to forget things if we never tell them to anyone. And Happy Teachers Day! I may not like doing homework. But I have always respected and liked you, my teachers.
