When I was about 8, the Bruderhof in central New Jersey closed up shop and moved to the main colony in the Catskills. They had a "going out of business" type sale of Creative Playthings wooden toys, and especially in the wooden blocks department, we seriously cleaned up. This gave the Bruderhof a seriously sentimental glow in my memory. Which apparently was not unintentional. I found this history, though clearly written from a specific (and oppositional) point of view, full of echoes from other faiths.
