When I was fourteen, I stayed up very late and recorded this on a VHS tape so I could watch it whenever I wanted. I took this tape to college and, in 2001, to Las Vegas, where I eventually disposed of it, in the material purge of divorce and when the technology necessary for playback become scarce and obsolete. In my wildest dreams, I dress like Henry James, haunt a historic house in Savannah, sip whiskey and mumble cultural criticism nonstop, and play this on an endless loop. The past is never dead. Its not even past. And YouTube brings it all flooding back.
