When I was going through job transition during 2002 - 2005, I met one of FedExs first pilots who was also a WWII veteran, who participated in D-Day on the Normandy ..., Wally Simpson. He faithfully met with us at 6:30 am each Tuesday at the CUMC on Poplar to encourage job-seekers to deal with the pain of losing their jobs and to encourage them that they were worthy of moving forward to the next opportunity. Years later, I ran into him again when I joined the Germantown Kiwanis Club as he gave of himself for the children. Wally was always involved in helping to make Germantown and Memphis a better place to live. We celebrated Wally and Trudy Simpsons 70th wedding anniversary in February at the FedEx Retiree Club. Shortly after that, we discovered that Trudy had cancer. She had surgery. We have just discovered that Wally is in stage 4 of cancer and is over 90 years of age..Yet, Wallys demeanor is that of a very happy, contented person in spite of the news, Please keep this phenomenal couple, Wally and Trudy Simpson in your prayers.
