When I was in grade 10 my teacher told me to stop speaking African - TopicsExpress

When I was in grade 10 my teacher told me to stop speaking African languages when im in class and just speak English. I then asked my teacher why I should only speak English, she then told me 'because its a Universal language' I then asked her why white kids speak Afrikaans in class, I told her Afrikaans is not a universal language and most black kids do not understand it. My teacher then told me to get out of her class. Today I still have the same problem. Black people are quick to give you stupid reasons why English is so important. They tell you English is a universal language. The sad thing about this universal language is that the term universal only applies to black people. Chinese speak their home language when they speak to each other, and so do the French, Italians, Spanish and all other races, even whites in South Africa tell you to speak Afrikaans when you speak to them. The only people who put other languages above their native languages are Africans. Africans even ridicule and shame each other. In the African world if you do not know how to communicate in English you are labeled uneducated. That is a sad reality. Africans are quick to tell you to stop speaking English if you think its not important. African are quick to tell you that it is a white mans language if you against it stop speaking it. The sad thing is nobody tells white people that Africa is an African continent so if they hate Africans they should leave Africa. No African tells a white man that and I think those Africans either have a burning desire to be white or they just feel that whites are superior to Africans. What a sad reality. We went from building pyramids to this. We went from being the most cultural continent on the planet to being culturally poor. We went from having our own Gods and thinking we are Gods to praising foreign Gods. We went from being the most beautiful continent on the planet to being labelled the continent of Malnutrition, disease and poverty. Africans need to start taking themselves seriously. I love you all even our misinformed cousins.~~~~Tsepo Phokeng
