When I was in high school, I participated in this municipal literary-musical festival. I joined the general information quiz show, duet, extemporaneous speech and tula. I and my team won first place in all categories. I thought the barangay I represented would cheer for me/us. Instead, there was this so-called cousin of mine and her daughter who started spreading rumor that it seems I am NOT my fathers son. They even said binbinbin jo karey tangida to which literally means look at his ears (and compare it to that of his fathers). I thought I have forgotten about it. But then when that so-called daughter, who was supposed to be my nephew, my own blood, requested to be my friend here in facebook, the memory came back all at once, as if it were just yesterday. Yes, that and many more nasty rumors back then against me and my mom and our family forced us to move out of that place and transfer to La Trinidad, even if that meant I will be away from them during my senior high school year. I can not forget, even if I want to. And I can not even forgive them, for they never apologized.
