***When I was in my 20s my closest friend from Junior High School after graduating Cornell, her good grades & a winning horse at Belmont paying the way, got a job at Seagrams & married the vice president of Chateaux Estate Wines, a lovely man named David Milligan & the reason why 30 plus years later I befriended Dave Milligan of the Indie band The Penguin Party. The original David Milligan came from the stately homes of England, went to school with Churchills grandson, his father having been a protectorate of the Sudan, his mother having rooms at the Digby estate, Lord Digby being the brother of Pamela Digby. Shortly after their marriage they purchased a house in Sniffen Court, a private mews in the East 30s of Manhattan where The Doors photographed their Strange Days album cover. To help pay off the mortgage they rented out the 2 bottom floors, living on the top 2. They ended up renting to Tiny Dancer who had been married to Bernie Taupin, Maxine, the gal the song was written about & her boyfriend of the time, Kenny who played bass on many Elton John albums, Hall & Oates, Dan Fogelberg etc...Maxines goal at the time was to get me hooked up with a rock star, I guess so I could spend my days shopping with her instead of working. I was asked to house sit by the Milligans one week, Maxine & Kenny also away. There was a heavy duty alarm system in the house. In the middle of the night the alarm went off. I go running outside like a jerk dressed only in a t-shirt & see 2 guys on a motorcycle who very happily tell me theyll take care of it. The blonde one introduces himself to me as Rex Smith of Pirates of Penzance & that song he had such a big hit with, asks me what I was doing there & tells me that the other guy was his sound engineer & would adjust the wires & voila the alarm was off. The cops came & good ole Rex went on with his story & I went back to bed. Thats the story Bonnie. I ended up dating the house painter of Peter Gabriels drummer, he got mono as did I & thats that***
