When I was in school, I got to see Maya Angelou speak in person. I sat in the front row and soaked up as much as I could. Ive also had the privilege of attending talks by Maxine Hong Kingston, Russell Banks, and Neil Gaiman. I think it matters, what you feed your brain and your heart, before you go forth to attempt big things, scary things. I think that whatever inspires you is nice, but what scares and challenges you is better. Dip your toes in it, swish them around, and get used to the feel of the water so you are ready for the plunge.
