When I was in training, becoming a community patrol officer (HOA Security) we were instructed how to handle a domestic situation. Husband & Wife fighting, maybe you observe him hitting her, her yelling or the other way around - either way, the training was observe from a distance and call the police. The reasoning to not get involved was that even though you may observe them fighting, the moment you step in YOU will most likely become the object of both of their aggression. They will tell you to mind your own business, and possibly set aside their differences for the sake of self preservation because you threaten their status quo and ambitions. Assad may be right, and we may end up with the Syrian government & the rebels fighting us.
