When I was invited to attend the Footstool Players’ ‘A Crazy - TopicsExpress

When I was invited to attend the Footstool Players’ ‘A Crazy Thing Called Love’ I really didn’t know what to expect. The kind of love story that touches me must contain something noble in them, the type that says more about the nature of love than the characters themselves. Great plays must contain ideas that provoke the mind and extend understanding of ourselves. That’s what I feel, because that’s the kind of person I am. Now the central question is, did I enjoy the Footstool Players’ play? Yes, very much, and I will explain why soon. Just to introduce what the play is about, CTCL is not really a play in the usual sense of the word, as in it does not go by way of introduction, followed by a plot leading to a climax, and ending in a denouement or resolution. There’s plenty of that but that’s not what the play’s about. Different scenes stayed in the mind. For me, it was sometimes an uncomfortable experience as I watch broken families try to overcome their problems, struggling through the issues of love and trying to mend their relationships. But this was counterpoised by more affirming moments when the characters triumph over their problems, restored broken relationships, and of the many lighter and more comedic aspects of romantic love. A performance of the play will be held at the Penang Performing Arts Centre from the 4-7 of December 2014, but is the play any good?
