When I was little, I lost my mum to stomach cancer. About two years ago, my younger sister got diagnosed with the same thing. She wanted to get this tattoo but she was too sick so she couldnt have it done. She passed away as well. It was genetic, so I had to have a test to see if I carried this particular gene and I did, so they told me I had an 80% chance of getting stomach cancer as well. The only option they really gave me was to have my stomach removed. In February of this year I did and I said, “ As soon as Im well again, Im going traveling” and here I am. They did a biopsy test on my stomach after they removed it and they found miniscule cancer cells, so I would have got it. I made the right choice. I have tattoos to commemorate my sister and my mum.
