When I was thirteen years old, I wrote this poem which later I included it as one of the journal entries of one of the characters in my book, "When a Woman Screams for Joy: Sarah Dreams". I dedicate this poem now to our future: Let’s Paint A Picture That Every Man Can See! by Marie D. McCohnell Sometimes I try to see for the blind here on Earth; so many seem to be. I tell them what the “picture of this life” looks like, to me. They listen, and some even believe! But they never stop, and say to me, “I’ve opened my own eyes too, and this is what I see!” Then I plead in all sincerity, “Oh please, explain to me what does the world look like to you?…If you are not blind, then prove to me, that you can see TOO!” But those poor blind fools they can not see, and do not realize that the pictures that I and all like me give them, is only what our eyes see…biased by limited experience and understanding! So why take the word of this poor mortal being, who lives in the same physical world that you’ve been living in? “Oh please open your eyes and see for yourselves! And don’t forget to tell me, because perhaps you can see something, that this poor human being, has herself been incapable of seeing.” Then each of us can take a brush, and paint all we’ve been seeing, on pieces of clear thin plastic sheeting. Then you’ll place your translucent PICTURE OVER mine, and ours over theirs. Combining, until only one collective picture will stand… shining. Keep in mind that it won’t be a picture in front of which one painter stands claiming that “You are to interpret the meaning of this painting!” and the one painter won’t be explaining that it says this and that, nor will one painter be asking you “what you think it has to say?” NO there will be no such confusion, Nor that feeling of hopeless disillusionment, that now has our world in such a bad way. Because we will share A collective conclusion; we’ll ALL give the final touch, which I’m sure will help heal us all very much. We’ll all sit down together in a loving bunch, and help one another understand what it is that makes us all “Man”. No this will be a collective picture of our greater heart, And it will help us in a very important way! We will all come together in harmony, just because, once again, or maybe for the first time, we will be able to say, “We All See It … the real picture… the world… the love… in the same basic way!” We will have unified understanding! And with this, we can start the plans to improve, and stop the decay of the True beauty of MAN and God’s “Way”! From this unified harmonious understanding, true love and charity will follow! Now do you realize, why it is so important to be able to say, “We’ve just painted a picture that all OF mankind can SEE!”?
