When I went and voted today the place was packed. I observe a WWII veteran along with his wife waiting in line (which was really long) to put his ballots into the voting machines. This gentlemen was using a cane and could hardly to walk with it. The line snaked pass the machines and all the back, to the back of the gym before getting back to the machines again so you could insert your ballot. ( I hope you get the picture.) I was about 1/4 of the way back in line from the machines when a very kind person let this guy and his wife put their ballots into the machines without having to wait in that long line. Although I don’t know who this person is... THANK YOU for having such a big heart and for letting these guys vote and not having to wait in line. Now the part that pissed me off.. After you cased your ballots they were exiting everyone out of a side door, as I went out the door I notice the vet and his wife trying to figure out a way to get off the side walk and down over the curve. I asked if he needed help and he gladly excepted. He told me all he had to do was to hold onto my arm.. which he did and step down onto the street. As I look up I saw a chain at the other end of the street that he would either have to go under on climb back on to the walk way along the side of the building so he could exit at the over end. The walk way was blocked with people at the other end and this is why he chose to take the street as every one else was doing. I made the decision to walk with him so that I would be able to lift the chain up so he could get under it. After that they said thank you,in return I thanked him for his dedicated service he did for our country. It made me feel really good that I was able to him out. Question is... Why of all the people that were coming out of that building walking pass this guy didn’t stop to help?!?! Are you all too busy a in your own life to take a second to help to a Veteran in need??? SHAME ON YOU!!!
