When I wrote this song, I hardly ever heard a song about Easter specifically. Halloween has its themes, Christmas has more songs about it than any other season, and of course, theres Happy Birthday. But Easter wasnt one I heard all that much, so I decided to come up with this little ditty, mostly aimed for kids to have fun hopping around and dancing to it. As I was writing this tune, I tried to imagine as if I were a 5 or 6 year old writing it, using that particular point of view. I had to make a decision whether to record this in our professional studio, or take a two track demo I did where I played guitar with a scratch vocal and my dad playing the bass guitar. I opted to use the demo and overdub with that particular recording, even though the recording was very inferior. I chose it mostly because the recording was satisfactory enough and its a song my father was performing with me. To keep the flavor of the song intact, I decided to record everything in my home studio, overdubbing the lead and backing vocal, using a $10 computer microphone with a plastic cup covering my mouth, using it like a live filter. I overdubbed the lead vocal 3 times, turning the cup in different directions each time, and proceeded to do the backing vocal nearly the same way. I also set up a travelers drum set and overdubbed the drums. By doing all this, it gave the song a feel as if it were recorded back in the mid to late 50s, which was what I was shooting for. The song isnt perfect, but its perfect for me, especially since its another tune in which I can say my father played the bass with me on a recording. Thanks dad! This is song #107. AND IF YOU SAW THEIR FACES FILLED WITH DELIGHT, THEN YOU KNOW THIS EASTER WILL BE ALL RIGHT. NOW HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND ME. A HAPPY EASTER IS WHAT I SEE.
