When Im not deliberately committing Sloth myself, I always opt for - TopicsExpress

When Im not deliberately committing Sloth myself, I always opt for wearing an age appropriate attire while in public or attending formal functions, but am still mindful enough to come across as somewhat style conscious. Immediately some (other guys) will direct derision toward this due to a differing opinion (formed prematurely) on the accepted societal view of personal appearance for the male of the species. They will scoff by saying that getting dressed up, that preening is something solely for the women folk, then proceed to let that fly in the face of any valid argument or sound reasoning. And for the most part they will be correct. It is for the women. Except for the part that isnt. Thats where the context is entirely incorrect. Whether you care enough to believe it or not, the way you dress and how you carry yourself is the simplest form of body language. Dont be oblivious to the obvious fact that EVERYONE is picking up on EVERY subtle nuance. On a rudimentary level we are all social creatures living in a harsh reality of constant judgement. First impressions really are everything. Be it during a job interview, breaking the ice with an intended love interest, or even asking a stranger for directions, your first impression will make or break you. The way you look shouldnt be the deciding factor. Becoming presentable doesnt have to be an arduous task. Especially if you know about all the options available to you. Having recently discovered the artofmanliness, Im convinced it is quite possibly the most comprehensive and contemporary guide available to a young man aspiring to be a young gentleman. This article on sharp, casual dress speaks volumes and rests my case: artofmanliness/2012/10/31/sharp-casual-young-man-guide/
