When Israel made the golden calf in the wilderness, they wanted a God they could see, touch and control. First of all, God will never allow any thing to be put in His place. Second, if they could see Him, touch Him and control Him, there would be no need for faith in Him. I wonder sometimes if we’re not just as guilty. Anything we turn to for comfort and help is idolatry. Whatever we worship and bow to is an idol in our life and must be destroyed. In those moments of weakness, we sometimes want to see, touch and control God. We forget that our entire relationship with Jesus is built on faith. We do not walk by what we see, but we walk by what we believe. My encouragement to you today is, tear down anything you might have turned to in a difficult season of your life. Let your worship be to the one and only true God. Maybe you can’t see Him or control Him, but let this word today build your faith in Him. You might not by sure of your next move in this season, but don’t let your frustration make you turn to an idol. The faith in God you started with, is the same faith that will take you all the way.
